Highways, Inc. was founded in 1960 in Brentwood, Tennessee by Don Dean as a grading, storm drainage, and earthmoving contractor. As the grading division of the company continued to grow, the company has developed an asphalt division, bridge division, and a sand manufacturing division. We have completed hundreds of projects. These projects have included earthwork, storm drainage, asphalt paving, base stone, curbing, striping, sewer, water lines, electrical work, concrete, retaining walls, and bridges.

Over the years we have moved millions of cubic yards of earth on our grading projects. These projects have included large state highway projects, site developments for large corporations, and federally funded projects. Also, we have laid thousands of miles of storm and sewer pipe on these projects.

Along with our extensive experience in earthwork, we have also laid millions of tons of base stone and asphalt. On average we will lay 2.5 million tons of base stone per year and 750,000 tons of asphalt. We own and operate five individual asphalt plants with the capability of producing asphalt from the Kentucky state line to the Georgia state line and from Rockwood, Tennessee to Carthage, Tennessee.

Along with our grading and paving division, we operate a bridge division capable of constructing bridges of all sizes. We construct box bridges, steel, and steel reinforced concrete bridges.
